I am finally updating my website. I really haven't done much to it since I started 2nd grade. Please feel free to leave suggestions on what you would like to see on this site! The new school is going to be amazing and I can't wait to get back and get started. Enjoy your last few weeks of summer vacation.

Many of you know me as a first grade teacher at Brooks. Well, as I begin my 20th year teaching, I wanted to a change. I think it is so important to continue to challenge and grow as an educator. Please be patient as I update this website to be more 2nd grade friendly throughout the year. Please feel free to comment or email information or sites you would find helpful on this website. I look forward to getting to know you and everything I can about 2nd grade this year!
Here is a video the first grade team made to get the kids excited about using the RADD strategy. We use this strategy when responding to text through written response.

In our staff seminar on Friday, we read a article about this topic. As a staff, we discussed being committed to helping students understand their ability to grow as a learner and the process of learning is so important. We want students to be life long learners who are able to solve problems and persevere when things get tough! Here are some links to another article and youtube on the topic. These are very thought provoking as a parent and as a teacher. I see how this affects student learning everyday.
